GEOGRAFIAS DA REPRESSÃO POLICIAL - RELIGIOSOS DA FREGUESIA DE SANT’ANNA NO RIO DE JANEIRO (1890 – 1929).
A República Brasileira nasce laica em 1889. Porém, nem todas as experiências religiosas possuíam liberdade para pleno culto. O Código Penal de 1890, promulgado antes mesmo da primeira Constituição da República, atrelava práticas de determinadas religiões como crime. Nesse trabalho buscaremos apresentar um recorte de uma pesquisa maior, onde construímos as Geografias dessa repressão. Neste artigo apresentaremos a repressão na Freguesia de Sant’Anna, o perfil dos religiosos afetados pela violência policial e o próprio perfil da freguesia entre os anos de 1890 e 1929.

Abstract:
The Brazilian Republic was born secular in 1889. However, not all religious experiences had freedom for full worship. The Penal Code of 1890, promulgated even before the first Constitution of the Republic, linked practices of certain religions as a crime. In this work we will try to present an excerpt from a larger research, where we built the Geographies of this repression. In this article we will present the repression in the Parish of Sant’Anna, the profile of religious affected by police violence and the profile of the parish between the years 1890 and 1929.
