Abstract: This article presents research on the integration of traditional musical genres from Rio Grande do Sul into school music education, proposing pedagogical activities to value regional culture within Basic Education. The qualitative study was structured in two stages: a literature review and a musical analysis of the genres, followed by the development and systematization of instructional proposals. The included musical genres were vaneira, vaneirão, vaneirinha, xote, waltz, rancheira, polka, chamamé, and bugio. Lesson plans are presented for Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and High School, aiming at the students' musical development and the strengthening of intangible cultural heritage. It is concluded that the inclusion of regional music enriches the curriculum, fostering critical civic education and a connection to Brazil's cultural diversity.
