GEL STENT E SUA EFICÁCIA NO TRATAMENTO DE GLAUCOMA DE ÂNGULO ABERTO: REVISÃO DE LITERATURA
O glaucoma de ângulo aberto (GAA) é uma doença geneticamente determinada que advém do aumento da pressão intraocular (PIO), decorrente de uma lesão do nervo óptico, cursando com alteração do campo visual. As formas de tratamento do GAA incluem o uso de colírios betabloqueadores, mitóticos, colírios a base de prostaglandinas e cirúrgico, por meio do uso de gel stent. Este último apresentou- se como uma inovação para controlar a progressão do GAA, utilizando na técnica um stent composto de gelatina reticulada com glutaraldeído, de forma microinvasiva (MIGS). O objetivo desta revisão foi analisar a eficiência do gel stent em diminuir a PIO, independentemente das técnicas, frente ao tratamento do glaucoma de ângulo aberto. Os autores pesquisaram os bancos de dados do PubMed (MEDLINE), LILACS, DOAJ e BVS e um total de 29 artigos científicos foram selecionados e incluídos após a aplicação dos critérios. O presente texto propõe uma revisão de artigos selecionados, foi observado que o gel stent obteve eficácia na totalidade dos estudos em que foi utilizado como tratamento, mesmo sendo encontradas poucas complicações após o procedimento. Em conclusão, vale ressaltar que o mesmo obteve boa segurança sistêmica, além de ter melhorado a qualidade de vida dos pacientes, já que o uso crônico dos colírios causa efeitos colaterais.

Abstract:
Open-angle glaucoma (GAA) is a genetically determined disease that results from increased intraocular pressure (IOP), resulting from a lesion of the optic nerve, with changes in the visual field. The forms of treatment for GAA include the use of beta-blocker eye drops, mitotics, prostaglandin-based eye drops and surgery, through the use of stent gel. The latter presented itself as an innovation to control the progression of GAA, using in the technique a stent composed of gelatin cross-linked with glutaraldehyde, in a microinvasive way (MIGS). The objective of this review was to analyze the efficiency of the stent gel in lowering IOP, regardless of the techniques, in the treatment of open-angle glaucoma. The authors searched PubMed (MEDLINE), LILACS, DOAJ and VHL databases and a total of 29 scientific articles were selected and included after applying the criteria. The present text proposes a review of selected articles, it was observed that the stent gel was effective in all studies in which it was used as a treatment, even though few complications were found after the procedure. In conclusion, it is worth mentioning that it obtained good systemic safety, in addition to improving the quality of life of patients, since the chronic use of eye drops causes side effects.
