Abstract: Gamification and game-based learning are instruments that have recently been appropriated in educational practices, which justifies their in-depth research to find the best ways to use them. This article is the result of a pedagogical practice based on the use of active learning methodologies, more specifically the use of game-based learning, conducted in the Práticas Educativas em EPT discipline of the Mestrado Profissional em Educação Profissional e Tecnológica (Ifes). In this article, we will present the account of this experience that aimed to promote the teaching and to learn about gamification and game-based learning. The intervention was planned collaboratively using ADDIE Instructional Design (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Also, it presents the motivation that originated it, the way the practice was conducted, and brief analysis of the results from this class, obtained through questionnaires applied to the participating students. The results suggest the need for teachers to understand broadly about gamification and game- based learning, which should not be simple stimulation methods but as real possibilities for creating meaningful experiences, positively impacting the educational process. This study is intended as an incentive for teachers to develop innovative classroom practices.
