Abstract: It is estimated that 55 million people have some form of dementia and the main one is Alzheimer's in the world. In Brazil, the Ministry of Health indicates that there are around 1.2 million, with 100 thousand new cases annually. Worldwide, it reaches 50 million. The incidence of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is increasing throughout the world and considering this alarming rate, the search for forms of prevention has intensified, based on scientific research, health education and public policies are fundamental. The general objective was to carry out a bibliographical review on forms of prevention and nursing action with individuals with Alzheimer's disease (AD). The research was carried out using the literature review methodology. The articles were searched in the academic databases SciELO and BVS Salud and PubMed using the following descriptors: “Alzheimer”, “Nursing”, “prevention” and “nutrition”. Works published between 2013 and 2023, written in Portuguese and English and made available in full, were selected, with those not suitable to the selection criteria being discarded. The findings demonstrated the need for preventive actions to prevent the onset of the disease. It is concluded that the gradual, progressive and irreversible course of AD compromises the patient, causes greater demand for care and causes death. Therefore, there is a need to seek to prevent the disease.
