Abstract: This study analyzes how active methodologies in language teaching can enhance critical thinking and citizen education. We live in a context marked by exacerbated consumerism and misinformation; schools need to cultivate individuals capable of critically reading the world and intervening in it. By employing differentiated strategies, such as station rotation in activities based on Pepe Mujica's speech in Spanish classes, this study simultaneously promoted the development of critical thinking about consumption and sustainability through reading, and the connection between the foreign language and social reality. The teacher, as an essential mediator, connects academic knowledge to the students' lived experiences, promoting a truly transformative education.
