Abstract: Objective: To report a case of pulmonary fibrosis in association with COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2). Method: Case report on care at the occupational diseases outpatient clinic of a university hospital in southern Brazil. Results and discussion: Pulmonary fibrosis can be present in cases of convalescence after severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) secondary to SARS-CoV-2 infection, severely compromising patients' quality of life and ability to work. A study suggests that the severity of post-COVID-19 manifestations is related to the severity of COVID-19 and the presence of comorbidities Conclusion: The cases reported reinforce the importance of adequate medium- and long-term medical follow-up after severe SARS-CoV-2 infection. It is essential to maintain a high index of suspicion regarding SARS-COV-2 infection and pulmonary fibrosis in patients who persist with pulmonary complaints after SARS-CoV-2 infection.
