Abstract: Introduction: Fibromyalgia (FM) is a syndrome characterized by chronic widespread muscle and tendon pain, which may be associated with fatigue, sleep disorders, cognitive changes and mood disorders (anxiety and depression), which lasts for longer than three months, and which does not show evidence of inflammation at the sites of pain. Due to the complexity of the pathophysiology of FM with multiple manifestations, treatments should involve multidisciplinary programs aimed at treating the peripheral, central, cognitive-emotional and interpersonal causes of chronic pain. In this context, acupuncture therapy may be an effective option for the treatment of FM. Objective: To describe a case of a fibromyalgia patient with significant improvement in symptoms after 10 sessions of acupuncture combined with auriculotherapy and electroacupuncture. Methodology: Case report of a patient with significant improvement in fibromyalgia symptoms after acupuncture sessions. Results and discussion: Fibromyalgia is a complex disease with an etiology and pathophysiology that are still poorly understood. For this reason, most treatments end up focusing on symptom management, making it difficult to develop more targeted therapies. The improvement in FM pain in the case reported is in line with the findings of a study which showed that manual acupuncture with at least 10 sessions can provide a better analgesic effect. Conclusion: Acupuncture, associated with auriculotherapy and electrostimulation, can be recommended for pain management in FM, as it can reduce the pain threshold, improving sleep quality and general condition post-treatment.
