Abstract: The aim of the present study was to develop a slow-release fertilizer (SRF) composed of highly pyrolyzed nanocarbon, urea, and humic substances, seeking to enhance nitrogen use efficiency, reduce environmental losses, and compare its effectiveness to urea. The fertilizer was characterized using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). To evaluate urea release, the granules were subjected to static solubility tests and compared with pure urea. The results showed good element distribution and homogeneity in the granules, with the SRF releasing urea more slowly and in a controlled manner, unlike pure urea, which dissolved completely within 10 hours. This prolonged release indicates greater nutrient availability efficiency. The fertilizer proved effective in modulating the release rate, making it a promising alternative to reduce the frequency of reapplications and minimize environmental impact.
