FERRAMENTAS GENÔMICAS E GEOGRÁFICAS PARA AVALIAR A DIVERSIDADE E ESTRUTURA GENÉTICA DE POPULAÇÕES SUÍNAS
A grande disponibilidade de técnicas moleculares proporcionou a realização de vários estudos em raças ameaçadas de extinção utilizando as informações dos marcadores baseados em polimorfismos do DNA. Há muitos marcadores no DNA (RFLP, AFLP, RAPD, microssatélites, mtDNA, Y, SNPs) que estão sendo utilizados para estudar a diversidade genética de animais domésticos. Neste texto serão apresentadas descrições dos marcadores microssatélites, mtDNA e SNPs como ferramentas genômicas para avaliar a diversidade e estrutura genética de populações suínas assim como serão apresentados alguns aspectos importantes das áreas de Filogeografia e Genética de Paisagem, que combinam as informações obtidas com os marcadores moleculares e a distância física entre as populações para estudar o comportamento da distribuição da variação genética numa escala espacial.

Abstract:
The great availability of molecular techniques has provided the realization of several studies in endangered breeds using the information of markers based on DNA polymorphisms. There are many markers in DNA (RFLP, AFLP, RAPD, microsatellites, mtDNA, Y, SNPs) that are being used to study the genetic diversity of domestic animals. In this text will be presented descriptions of microsatellite markers, mtDNA and SNPs as genomic tools to evaluate the diversity and genetic structure of swine populations as well as some important aspects of the areas of Phylogeography and Landscape Genetics, which combine the information obtained with the molecular markers and the physical distance between the populations to study the behavior of the distribution of genetic variation on a spatial scale.
