FAZER-SE RAINHA MIRIM NUMA FESTA DE CAMINHONEIROS: SOBRE (DES)PRATICAR NORMAS DE GÊNERO NUM CONCURSO DE BELEZA
Este artigo problematiza a
generificação da infância a partir de uma análise
sobre a participação de meninas, entre cinco
e nove anos, no concurso de rainha mirim da
Festa dos Caminhoneiros de Itabaiana-SE. O
argumento do trabalho é o de que o concurso
é um território de aprendizagens de gênero,
veiculando normas regulatórias e inscrevendo
nos corpos das garotas que dele participam
modelos do que é ser menina/mulher. Para
a produção de dados, foram realizadas
observações dos ensaios do concurso e produção
de diários de campo. Concomitantemente
foram feitas entrevistas com os adultos (mães
e organizadores) que participaram do evento.
O contato com as crianças foi intermediado
pela construção de um caderno de memórias
onde, através de desenhos, colagens e
escritos das meninas, se pudesse ter acesso
às compreensões/experiências/sentimentos
que elas tinham ao participar do concurso.
A análise dos dados apontou que, além das
dimensões estéticas, o concurso é atravessado
por aspectos mercadológicos e por visões
contraditórias sobre o que é infância. Ele é
um espaço de aprendizagens de gênero, de
conformação de corpos infantis a determinadas
expectativas de feminilidades que, todavia,
são eventualmente borradas pelas crianças. A
análise dos desenhos evidenciou também que,
para além de uma competição geradora de
ansiedade e tensões, as crianças construíam
relações afetivas entre si pautadas numa certa
política da amizade, experimentando outras
relações consigo e com as outras que não as
pautadas na competitividade e em padrões de
gênero pré-fabricados.

Abstract:
This article problematizes the
genderfication of childhood from an analysis
of the participation of girls, between five and
nine years old, in the young queen contest
of the Truckers’ Party of Itabaiana-SE. The
argument of the work is that the contest
is a territory of learning of gender, issuing
regulatory norms and inscribing in the bodies
of the girls who participate models of what it is
to be girl/woman. For the production of data,
observations were made of the competition

tests and the production of field diaries. At the same time interviews were made with
the adults (mothers and organizers) who participated in the event. The contact with
the children was intermediated by the construction of a notebook of memories where,
through drawings, collages and writings of the girls, they could have access to the
understandings / experiences / feelings that they had when participating in the contest.
The analysis of the data indicated that, besides the aesthetic dimensions, the contest is
crossed by market aspects and by contradictory visions about what is childhood. It is a
space of learning of gender, of conformation of infantile bodies to certain expectations
of femininities that, however, are eventually blurred by the children. The analysis of
the drawings also showed that, in addition to a competition that generated anxiety and
tensions, children built affective relationships between them based on a certain politics
of friendship, experiencing other relationships with themselves and with others other
than those based on competitiveness and standards of pre-fabricated genders.
