Fausel e Aust: dois expoentes da literatura
Quando estudamos a imigração
alemã para o Brasil e seus desdobramentos
em sucessivas gerações, encontramos uma
diversidade de materiais. Os alemães e seus
descendentes no Brasil organizaram sua
existência ao modo do que conheciam na
Alemanha. Depois de instalados, fundaram
a igreja e a escola, importando e, depois,
produzindo para estas duas instituições muitos
textos, dos quais os mais freqüentes são os
relatos, contos e poesias. O imigrante ou seu
descendente vale-se deste recurso literário
para reorganizar seu luto patriótico e reconstruir
sua nova identidade em território estranho. O
imigrante alemão Erich Fausel (1904-1963),
radicado em São Leopoldo/RS, escreveu e
adaptou muitas poesias. Seu principal objetivo
era abastecer com livros e publicações de
qualidade a Escola Alemã no Brasil. Ao dedicarse
à literatura, tanto em alemão quanto em
português, viu nesta disciplina uma forma
de fortalecer a língua e a cultura do alemão
no Brasil e no mundo, especialmente dos
descendentes dos imigrantes alemães. Aust
(1897-1986), outro imigrante alemão, radicado
em São Paulo/SP, inova com a balada a forma
poética do imigrante, antes presa aos cânones
da lírica tradicional. Ambos contribuem para a
valorização da literatura brasileira escrita em
língua alemã e se constituem dois expoentes
da literatura.

Abstract:
When we study German
immigration in Brazil through successive
generations, we find various materials. The
Germans and their descendants organized their
lives in Brazil the same way they did in Germany.
Once settled, they founded the local church and
school and then imported and produced many
texts, mostly stories, tales and poetry for these
institutions. At that time, the immigrant and
his/her descendant used the literary resource
to relief their patriotic grief and to rebuild their
new identity in the foreign territory. The German
immigrant Erich Fausel (1904-1963) who lived
in São Leopoldo, RS, wrote and adapted a
great number of poetry. His main objective was
to supply quality books and other publications
to the German School in Brazil. By devoting himself to both German and Portuguese
literature, he collaborated to strengthen the German language and culture in Brazil and
in the world, especially among the descendants of German immigrants. Aust (1897-
1986), another German immigrant, who lived in São Paulo, SP, used balada as a new
poetry style different from the traditional lyric canons brought by the immigrants. Both
authors paid great contribution to the Brazilian literature by making some piece of work
available and appreciated in German. They became important exponents in literature.
