FAUNA DIGITAL DO RIO GRANDE DO SUL: CRIANDO UMA PLATAFORMA DIGITAL PARA DIVULGAÇÃO CIENTÍFICA.
Disponibilizar informação científica com linguagem simples à população em geral é parte crucial do processo de conscientização e da construção de uma sociedade mais harmônica com o ambiente natural. Assim, com o objetivo de criar uma plataforma online com dados sobre a fauna do estado do Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Brasil, foi construído o site Fauna Digital do Rio Grande do Sul (FDRS; www.ufrgs. br/faunadigitalrs). As informações contidas no site incluem distribuição geográfica, status de conservação, aspectos da biologia e da ecologia, hábito de vida e habitat das espécies fauna que ocorre no RS. Essas informações são oriundas de fontes confiáveis e publicadas sobre os animais do Estado; as fotografias e os vídeos disponibilizados são oriundos de sites livres de direitos autorais ou obtidos junto a colaboradores. Os textos produzidos são revistos por graduandos, pós-graduandos e docentes em Ciências Biológicas. Para a conclusão deste Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso foi estipulada a inclusão de todos os mamíferos que ocorrem no Estado; o objetivo final, porém, é a inclusão no site de todas as espécies do Reino Animalia existentes no RS. Tal será efetuado através de um projeto de extensão em parceria com todos os laboratórios do Departamento de Zoologia da UFRGS (e de outras instituições do estado). Esse objetivo, pela sua magnitude, e pelo fato de serem constantemente descritas novas espécies, vêse como eternamente inacabado, permitindo a participação de estudantes de todos os níveis de ensino ao longo de muitos anos.

Abstract:
Providing scientific information with simple language to the general population is essential to the process of raising awareness and building a society more in harmony with the natural environmentenvironment. Like this, with the objective of creating an online platform with data about the fauna of the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Brazil was created the site Digital Fauna do Rio Grande do Sul (FDRS; www.ufrgs.br/ faunadigitalrs). The information contained in the site includes geographical distribution, conservation status, aspects of biology and ecology of the animal, habit of life and habitat of the fauna that occurs in RS. This information comes from reliable and published sources on state animals, photographs and videos available come from royalty free sites or obtained from collaborators. The texts produced are reviewed by undergraduates, post-graduates and teachers in Biological Sciences. For the conclusion of this Course Completion Work was stipulated the inclusion of all mammals that occur in the State; the ultimate goal, however, is the inclusion on the site of all Animalia species in the RS. This will be done through an extension project in partnership with all the laboratories of the Department of Zoology of UFRGS (and other state institutions). This objective, by its magnitude, and by the fact that new species are constantly described, is seen as eternally unfinished, allowing the participation of students of all levels of education over many years.
