• Abstract: The bicycle has been classified as a sustainable means of transport for delivering goods in the urban setting since 1860, when people started using it for delivery purposes. Nowadays, there is a lot of debate about sustainability and the optimization of the merchandise distribution process. There are many sustainable solutions for urban freight transport: such as off-peak or night delivery, the implementation of urban consolidation and urban distribution centers, intelligent transport systems, alternative modes of transport such as rail and river and less pollutants such as electric vehicles and bicycles. This article seeks to identify the facilitating and hindering factors in cargo transport by bicycle in the city of São Paulo. And so to conclude how urban delivery has been stimulating the expansion of the offer of this type of logistic service. The methodology includes bibliographic and field research with delivery cyclists. The results show that when analyzing the survey data, this work is mostly carried out by men, but women are increasingly inserted in this field of work. It is concluded that this bicycle cargo delivery service is of paramount importance for the sustainability of cargo logistics, with a better possibility of performance in deliveries because it has an easier flow in transit.
