Abstract: This article addresses the intrinsic and extrinsic factors associated with fall risk in institutionalized older adults. Based on a comparative review of recent scientific evidence, multiple determinants involving clinical, environmental, and psychosocial aspects were identified. Sarcopenia, neurological diseases, medication use, and environmental inadequacies stood out as key factors. The analysis also highlighted that structured exercise programs, regular medication reviews, and assistive technologies are effective fall prevention strategies. It is concluded that integrated and multidisciplinary interventions are essential to ensure safety and quality of life for institutionalized older adults.
