Abstract: Objective: The present study aimed to analyze factors associated with body image dissatisfaction in adolescents. Method: This is a Cross-sectional study carried out with adolescents from São Luís-MA. The association of body image dissatisfaction with the studied variables was investigated using multinomial regression and outcomes was categorized into satisfied, dissatisfied with the desire to increase and the desire to reduce their silhouette. Results: Of the 2.162 adolescents, 83.6% were dissatisfied with their body image, 59.7% of the boys dissatisfied with the desire to increase and 66.5% of the girls to reduce it. Female (OR=2.18; 95%CI 1.60;2.98), overweight (OR=20.08; 95%CI 10.98;36.72), obesity (OR=85.28; 95%CI 11 .75;618.84), high level of physical activity (OR =0.55; 95%CI 0.37; 0.82) were associated with dissatisfaction with the desire to reduce. Underweight (OR = 28,4; IC 95% : 3,93;206,25) was associated with dissatisfaction with the desire to increase the silhouette. Conclusions: Thus, female gender, overweight and underweight were more likely to be dissatisfied with their body image, and high-level physical activity was less likely.
