FAO: EDUCAÇÃO COMO ESTRATÉGIA DE DESENVOLVIMENTO RURAL NA AMÉRICA LATINA
O presente estudo tem como objetivo compreender qual é o papel atribuído à educação na disseminação da concepção de desenvolvimento rural para o combate à pobreza e à fome na América Latina, presente na proposta da Organização das Nações Unidas para Alimentação e Agricultura - FAO. Para tanto, este trabalho propõe-se identificar a relação entre a educação e desenvolvimento rural, como estratégia para o combate à fome e à pobreza. Nesse sentido, faremos a análise de alguns documentos produzidos pela FAO no período de 2000 a 2012, e também de documentos anteriores, que tratam especificamente do desenvolvimento rural, no sentido de compreender quais foram as razões que levaram à (re)formulação da concepção de desenvolvimento rural, baseada nos princípios do desenvolvimento econômico. Também discutiremos qual é o papel da educação na proposta da FAO, foco desse estudo, para o desenvolvimento rural na América Latina.

Abstract:
The present study aims to understand the role attributed to education in the dissemination of the concept of rural development to combat poverty and hunger in Latin America, as proposed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). For this reason, this work proposes to identify the relationship between education and rural development as a strategy to fight hunger and poverty. In this respect, we will analyze some documents produced by FAO in the period from 2000 to 2012, and also previous documents that deal specifically with rural development, in order to understand what were the reasons that led to the (re)formulation of the concept of rural development, based on the principles of economic development. We will also discuss the role of education in the FAO proposal, the focus of this study, for rural development in Latin America.
