Abstract: This paper analyzes the book Trilhas da reforma agrária (Paths of Agrarian Reform), by the Bahian writer Euclides Neto, originally published in 1998. The book is an account of his experiences as Secretary of Agrarian Reform for Bahia. The analysis considers the second, revised edition, published in 2014. Euclides Neto was a writer, lawyer, and politician elected by popular vote in 1961 - mayor of the city of Ipiaú, Bahia, and Secretary of Agrarian Reform for Bahia between 1987 and 1989. In addition to being a husband, father, and farmer. The objective is a “tour” through excerpts/traces inscribed in Euclides Neto’s work, where the “I” weaves images of itself across the most diverse social positions occupied; and to reflect on the authorial “stance” that emerges. One of these, evident in this and other works, is the sense of alterity in relation to rural workers, with whom he relates and identifies.
