Abstract: Cholecystectomy is one of the most widely practiced surgeries around the world, about 96% of them are performed laparoscopically, bile duct injury is an unavoidable complication of this procedure. Objective: To identify the risk factors for iatrogenic bile duct lesions. Methodology. A retrospective descriptive analysis was performed in order to determine the existence of common risk factors that predispose to iatrogenic biliary lesions. Results: The associated factors with respect to the surgical technique were the presence of adhesions and difficult dissection of the bile duct, in the associated factors dependent on the clinical condition of the patient were the female gender, the emergency condition and the presence of Diabetes Mellitus. Conclusions. The percentage of patients who underwent re-surgery was 75% in whom hepatojejunoanastomosis was performed mainly as a surgical option.
