SIGNIFICADOS CULTURALES E INTENTO DE SUICIDIO.
Este estudio propone identificar significados del intento del suicidio en adultos jóvenes con intento de suicidio, desde una perspectiva cultural, mujeres y hombres mexicanos. La población adulta joven en México es en la que se presentan las tasas de suicidio más altas, entre 2017 y 2022 fue 9.9 por cada 100 mil habitantes, y la tasa general fue de 5.4 por cada 100 mil habitantes (INEGI 2022).
Se entrevistaron 32 adultos jóvenes que intentaron suicidarse. Se identificaron sentimientos, pensamientos, acciones, interacciones y circunstancias de los participantes en torno al suicidio y el intento de suicidio. Se realizó un análisis cualitativo interpretativo en base a la teoría fundada. Se construyeron ocho categorías, que agrupan y organizan las experiencias de los participantes en relación con las causas, sentimientos, pensamientos, acciones y circunstancias relacionadas con el suicidio y el intento de suicidio.
Los factores de riesgo suicida, desde la perspectiva que aquí se desarrolla, se presentan principalmente en el núcleo familiar, caracterizado por un ambiente de violencia, falta de apoyo, soledad, precariedad y silencio. Se establece un diálogo interno consigo mismo en el que sus pensamientos y sentimientos, llevan a la persona a considerar que no hay otra salida que suicidarse. La comunidad constituida por el barrio, agrupaciones de vecinos, amigos, escuela, iglesia; es un espacio social pobre en recursos de apoyo, al cual no suelen recurrir los participantes. Las instituciones sociales tampoco ofrecen apoyos accesibles y oportunos. Las medidas de prevención que proponen los participantes son: contar con una persona de confianza con quien poder hablar de su situación, ayuda psicoterapéutica y el apoyo de la familia.

The purpose of this study is to identify the cultural meanings and suicide attempt among young adults, specifically mexican women and men who have attempted suicide. Young adult population in Mexico has one with the highest suicide rates, between 2017 and 2022 was 9.9 per 100 k inhabitants, and the suicide general rate in Mexico was 5.4 per 100 k inhabitants (INEGI 2022).
Thirty-two young adults who had attempted suicide were interviewed. Participant’s thoughts, feelings, actions, interactions, and circumstances around contemplating and attempting suicide were documented. A qualitative interpretive analysis based on the grounded theory was conducted. Eight categories were constructed which group and organize the participants’ experiences regarding the causes, feelings, thoughts, actions, and circumstances related to suicide and suicide attempted.
The suicidal risk factors from the perspective developed in this study are mainly present in the family circle, characterized by a violent environment, lack of support, loneliness, precariousness, and silence. Under these family conditions, where their thoughts and feelings lead them to consider that there is no other way out, but to commit suicide. The community, comprised of the neighborhood, associations, friends, school, and church, is an environment, poor in support resources, to which the participants do not usually turn. These social institutions do not offer accessible and timely support whenever the participants have resorted to them. The participants propose the following preventive measures: have a trustworthy person to be able to talk to about their situation, psychotherapeutic help, and family support.
