Abstract: The development of initiatives focused on the participation in the food business market, called fast food, has been distinguished, among other aspects, by the ability to contribute to economic development in the regions. This aspect is considered as a strategic factor to determine as an objective, the economic feasibility for the creation of an emerging business model in the food truck modality in a Colombian city. Methodologically, an exploratory analysis, non-experimental design and the feasibility of a qualitative approach are combined to understand the perceptions of consumers and from the quantitative, the evaluation of financial indicators such as value at risk (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR) and break-even point. The findings show a high potential for profitability and competitiveness of the mentioned business model compared to traditional restaurants, which is highlighted by lower operating costs. It is concluded that the business model studied is economically viable. It represents a gross margin of 70% and an operating margin of 25%, which is considered a feasible and viable business. In addition to the fact that stability is conditioned to the domain of knowledge on the assertive estimation of economic feasibility, which has to be a reference to guide the bases that support the creation, sustainability and perdurability of businesses.
