EXTRATO DE SCHINUS TERENBINTHIFOLIUS RADDI COM POTENCIAL ANTICANCER: UM ESTUDO PROSPECTIVO
Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi, também conhecida como aroeira, é uma espécie brasileira que se destaca na medicina popular. Várias partes da planta, folhas, frutos e cascas, são utilizadas para tratamento de diferentes enfermidades, como por exemplo: gastrite, úlcera, feridas, inflamação e dores, entre outros usos. Algumas plantas, por demonstrarem efeitos quimiopreventivos promissores, são utilizadas na produção de fitoterápicos e alguns desses estão sendo ao longo dos anos desenvolvidos para a prevenção do câncer. Diante do exposto, o estudo teve como objetivo obter informações acerca de tecnologia voltada para o potencial anticancerígeno da espécie vegetal. Foi realizada uma busca nas bases de dados Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Industrial (INPI) do Brasil, Organização Mundial da Propriedade Intelectual (WIPO), Espacenet e o Escritório de Patentes e Marcas dos Estados Unidos (USPTO), utilizando os descritores Schinus terebinthifolius cruzado com câncer e com antitumoral. Além disso, uma procura nas bases Google Acadêmico, Science Direct e PubMed também foi feita com os mesmos descritores. A pesquisa realizada demonstrou que existe apenas um registro de patente a nível nacional que trata do extrato da planta para tratamento de HPV. As demais patentes com a planta não correspondem à atividade biológica pesquisada. Já em relação aos dados visualizados nos artigos encontrados, os estudos envolvendo a planta relataram a eficácia do uso de suas diferentes partes no tratamento de células de câncer. Diante disso, há muito que se estudar sobre esta espécie, dado seu potencial farmacêutico pouco explorado.

Abstract:
Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi, also known as aroeira, is a Brazilian plant species that stands out in popular medicine. Various parts of the plant, leaves, fruits and bark, are used to treat different diseases, such as: gastritis, ulcers, wounds, inflammation and pain, among other uses. Some plants, as they demonstrate promising chemo preventive effects, are used in the production of herbal medicines and some of these have been developed over the years to prevent cancer. Given the above, the study goal to obtain information about technology aimed at the anticancer potential of this plant species. A search was carried out in the databases National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) of Brazil, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Espacenet and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), using the descriptors Schinus terebinthifolius crossed with cancer and antitumor. In addition, a search on the bases of Google Scholar, Science Direct and PubMed was also done with the same descriptors. The research showed that there is only one patent registration at the national level that deals with the plant extract for the treatment of HPV. The other patents with the plant species didn’t correspond to the biological activity investigated. Regarding the data seen in the articles found, studies involving the plant reported the effectiveness of using its different parts in the treatment of cancer cells. Therefore, there is a lot to study about this species, given its little-explored pharmaceutical potential.
