Abstract: Syphilis, a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) caused by Treponema pallidum, is primarily transmitted via sexual contact, but can also be acquired vertically, from mother to child. This study reports on an initiative developed at UNIFIPMOC-AFYA to raise awareness about congenital syphilis. The intervention included dialogues, educational presentations, and distribution of informative materials in Montes Claros, MG. There was significant engagement, particularly from women and pregnant individuals, who sought information and requested condoms. The initiative also raised awareness among men about the importance of prenatal care. In addition to education, the initiative involved conducting rapid tests, referral for specific care, and collaboration with the Municipal Health Department. It is concluded that these actions are crucial for disseminating accurate information, reducing cases of congenital syphilis, and promoting the role of universities in enhancing community health.
