Abstract: This article focuses on the development of Computational Thinking (CP) to promote student meaningful learning in the face of an increasingly technological world. Education needs to adapt, using new strategies, to prepare citizens for this age of knowledge, in which it is not enough just to remenber facts and data, but to relate information from different sources and develop new ideas with the support of emerging technology, in order to face new emerging challenges. In this context, the use of PC skills has emerged as an innovative learning strategy. The aim of this paper is to explore how PC, when applied to problem solving, helps develop representations and logical reasoning. The study addresses key concepts such as Meaningful Learning, Prior Organiser, representations and mental model, these concepts being considered fundamental in the development of skills and for meaningful learning. Therefore, this theoretical essay not only presents the concepts of CP in the educational context, but also discusses the related ideas that form its constitutive elements. The central issue of the study is the use of CP in problem solving to develop representations and logical reasoning.
