Abstract: Wheat is one of the most important globally cultivated cereals. In Brazil, current production is insufficient to meet domestic demand, due to difficulties in management and the high need for chemical fertilizers. However, wheat can associate with plant growth-promoting microorganisms. In this context, the present study aimed to test isolates of ACC deaminase-producing bacteria in wheat and their effect on growth promotion, nutritional status, and photosynthetic activity. For this purpose, 11 bacterial isolates were inoculated into wheat, with seven repetitions, and grown in a greenhouse for 42 days. At the end of the experiment, shoot dry mass, root dry mass, photosynthetic pigment levels (chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, and carotenoids), and levels and accumulation of macronutrients (N, P, K, Ca, and Mg) in the shoot dry mass were evaluated. Significant differences were found in all parameters evaluated, except for the magnesium content in the shoot dry mass. Among the tested bacteria, those that promoted the highest plant biomass production were Achromobacter insolitus, Arthrobacter spp., Pseudomonas arsenicoxydans, Pantoea cypripedii, and Pseudomonas mohnii. These isolates, in addition to promoting greater plant growth, also contributed to increased nutrient uptake by plants (P, K, N, and Ca), standing out as potential candidates for use in agriculture.
