Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Research on the behavior of culicids has revealed that physical and chemical factors are responsible for triggering choices in female mosquitoes, such as searching for food, mating and oviposition. The study aims to identify and evaluate the potential of extracts of mango (Mangifera indica), acerola (Malpighia emarginata), cashew (Anacardium occidentale) and rue (Ruta graveolens L.) involved in the attractiveness/repellentness and stimulation of oviposition of Aedes aegypti. METHODS: The bioassays were performed in a selection chamber. For the preparation of the aqueous extracts, 15 g of leaves or stems were used. For each resulting extract, it was diluted to 10%, 30%, 50% and 100%. Thirty pregnant females of A. aegypti were used/bioassays with 12 replicates. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION There was no difference in the containers treated with mango leaves at 10%, while in the 30%, 50% and 100% concentrations, they demonstrated repellent action (IAO = -0.66; -0.59; -0.79). In the tests with acerola leaves at 10%, there was also no statistical difference. For the tests at concentrations of 30%, 50% and 100%, they demonstrated repellent action (IAO = -0.88; -0.75; -1). The results of the tests with rue leaves (10%, 50% and 100%) demonstrated repellent action (IAO = -0.36; IAO = -0.58; IAO = -0.98). In the extract of rue stem at 10% and 50%, there was no significant difference. At 100%, they demonstrated repellent action (IAO = -0.62). CONCLUSION: These results can guide new approaches to vector monitoring and control, and future production of biotechnological products such as baits for use in traps and topical repellents for use in humans.
