Abstract: Introduction: Juvenile angiofibroma is a rare, benign, and highly vascularized tumor that predominantly affects male adolescents. Due to its invasive nature and significant risk of intraoperative bleeding, preoperative embolization has been widely used to minimize surgical complications. Objective: To analyze the evolution of preoperative embolization techniques in the treatment of juvenile angiofibroma, highlighting technological advances, efficacy in reducing bleeding, and impact on surgical outcomes. Methodology: Review based on articles from PubMed, LILACS, and BVS databases. Studies within the theme, available in full and free of charge, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish were included. Duplicates and out-of-scope studies were excluded. Results: Studies indicate that preoperative embolization significantly reduces the need for blood transfusion and improves surgical visibility. Newer techniques, such as the use of liquid agents, demonstrate greater efficacy in vascular occlusion, reducing recurrence rates and postoperative complications. Conclusion: The evolution of preoperative embolization techniques has contributed to safer and more effective surgical procedures in the treatment of juvenile angiofibroma. The choice of the ideal method depends on the extent of the tumor and the experience of the medical team, and rigorous postoperative monitoring is essential to minimize recurrences.
