Abstract: Advanced age is characterized by the appearance of several health conditions that can contribute to the occurrence of episodes that can aggravate the health of the elderly population, among these external causes are the most worrying, as they can result in irrecoverable physical damage and even death, needing to be addressed in order to avoid damage to the well-being of these individuals. Thus, the objective was to identify in the literature the main accidental events that occurred during senescence that take the elderly to emergency services. The present research started from the methodology of integrative literature review, with qualitative and descriptive nature. The bibliographic survey took place in the databases MEDLINE, LILACS AND BDENF. To limit the findings, studies were used with the following limits: in Portuguese and English, published between 2016 and 2020, complete originals were available for free online access. Duplicate, review, monograph, thesis, dissertation and editorial publications were excluded from the sample. 8388 articles were obtained from the 3 listed databases. Of these, after applying the inclusion criteria, 974 articles remained. After reading the titles and abstracts, 118 publications were selected for reading in full. After this process, 39 articles were chosen for full reading, ending with a sample of 14 articles. Through this survey, it was possible to observe that senescence causes the individual greater susceptibility to the action of external factors in association with external causes, the most incident being falls (and their consequences), traffic or transport accidents, followed by burns, drowning, intoxication and injury. It was also possible to identify that the accelerated growth of the elderly population in the country needs to be accompanied by the adaptation of health services, especially urgent and emergency services, with consequent improvement on the part of the professionals who work in them, in order to provide greater resolution of the problems presented. by the elderly, in order to provide quality of life and longevity.
