• Abstract: Since ancient times, the aromatic potential of plants has been explored. Aromatherapy is a science that studies the application of essential oils in the treatment of illnesses, as well as in promoting physical, mental and spiritual well-being. With the advancement of research and the diversification of the use of aromatic botanical compounds, there is a growing consumer market, so that essential oils are used as a source of income and no longer go unnoticed among the products exported by Brazil. In this way, a free online event was organized at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), whose theme dealt with the history of aromatherapy, the extraction, application and commercialization of essential oils, with the target audience being undergraduate students from the University in question, details on the topic. The approaches were made based on lectures and videos presented by professionals working in the area. To demonstrate the process of obtaining essential oils, hydroponic cultivation of mint (Mentha spicata L.) was previously carried out for 60 to 70 days. Having reached harvest time, the UFRPE Pharmacology Laboratory removed the mint oil through steam distillation, which was also done with the peel of the Ponkan orange (Citrus reticulata), due to the greater yield of the citrus when compared to mint. Those registered for the event followed the stages of hydroponic cultivation and the removal of essential oils through videos recorded in rich detail. The event took place via the Google Meet platform and at the end of each lecture or video shown, they were seen perfectly by the participants.
