EVALUACIÓN DEL COMPORTAMIENTO REPRODUCTIVO Y DETERMINACIÓN DE LA EDAD A LA PUBERTAD DE MACHOS Y HEMBRAS DE YAQUE (Leiarius marmoratus) BAJO CONDICIONES DE CAUTIVERIO
Doscientos cincuenta yaques (Leiarius marmoratus) de 14 meses de edad fueron distribuidos en cinco estaciones piscícolas del departamento del Meta (Colombia), para realizar seguimiento durante 6 meses de su crecimiento y condición corporal, midiendo mensualmente la longitud total (cm), longitud anal (cm), ancho de la cabeza (cm) contorno del cuerpo (cm) y peso corporal (Kg). La observación continuó durante 6 meses adicionales para establecer el momento de su primera madurez sexual y determinar así la edad a la pubertad. Cuando presentaron por primera vez signos de madurez sexual, la maduración final de las gónadas, la ovulación y la espermiación fueron inducidas hormonalmente (Extracto de Hipófisis de Carpa – EHC y Ovaprim – OVAP), evaluando en total cinco protocolos de administración de las hormonas. La mayor ganancia de peso y de talla se presentaron en las fincas 2 (0,41Kg) y 5 (6,1cm), observándose que las hembras presentaron mayor desarrollo corporal que los machos. Teniendo en cuenta el diámetro ovocitario post-inducción (868,0 ± 98,6 µm) y las fecundidades absoluta (638.248 ± 129.381 ovocitos/hembra) y relativa (207.479 ± 27.550 ovocitos.Kg-1), la mejor respuesta ovárica al tratamiento hormonal se observó con los protocolos basados en EHC. Igualmente, el protocolo más efectivo para aumentar el volumen seminal (3,3 ± 0,8mL), la movilidad espermática (58,0 ± 13,9 %), la duración de la motilidad (62,2 ± 7,4 seg) y la viabilidad espermática (95,6 ± 1,8 %) fue también aquel basado en EHC; sin embargo, la concentración espermática más alta se observó cuando se administró OVAP (4.430 ± 915,9 x 106 espermatozoides/µL). En conclusión, bajo condiciones de cautiverio, los primeros signos de madurez sexual de la especie se pueden presentar entre los 22 y 24 meses de edad, lo cual puede considerarse como la edad a la pubertad de la especie.

Abstract:
250 fourteen-month-old yaques (L. marmoratus) were split in five fishing farms of the department of Meta (Colombia). This distribution was performed in order to monitor monthly their growth and body condition by measuring their total length (cm), anal length (cm), head width (cm), body girth (cm) and body weight (Kg) during a period of six months. The observation was performed for six more months so as to establish the time for their first sexual maturity and determine the age of puberty. Once the first signs of sexual maturity were observed, the gonads final maturation, ovulation and spermiation were hormonal induced (Carp Pituitary Extract - CPE and Ovaprim - OVAP), assessing five hormone administration protocols in total. The greatest gain in weight and length were observed in the fishing farms 2 (0,41Kg) and 5 (6,1cm) where females showed greater body development than males. Based on the after-induction ovarian diameter (868,0 ± 98,6 µm) and the absolute fecundity (638.248 ± 129.381 oocytes/female) and relative fecundity (207.479 ± 27.550 oocytes.Kg-1), the best ovarian response to the hormonal treatment was observed in protocols under CPE. Similarly, the protocol under CPE was also the most effective in increasing the seminal volume (3,3 ± 0,8mL), the sperm motility (58,0 ± 13,9 %), the duration of motility (62,2 ± 7,4 sec.) and the sperm viability (95,6 ± 1,8 %); nonetheless, the highest sperm concentration was seen when OVAP (4.430 ± 915,9 x 106 spermatozoa/µL) was administered. In conclusion, the first signs of sexual maturity in L. marmoratus may appear around the age of 22 and 24 months in captivity conditions, which can be considered as the species puberty age.
