Abstract: The objective of the study was to describe the morphology of the seed-fruit and to evaluate the germination of Clusia pseudomangle under different substrates. A totally randomized design with three treatments (T1: Cotton substrate, T2: Absorbent paper and filter paper, T3: Sawdust), five replicates and 100 seeds per growing substrate was used. The results showed that the fruit of C. pseudomangle is fleshy type, dehiscent, drupaceous capsule with septicidal dehiscences, rounded shape, light green to yellowish green color, average weight of 16.58 g, and each fruit has five carpels of 2 to 3 seeds in each. The seeds have an orange aril with 4 threads, 2 to 3 seeds develop inside the aril, their testa is rough, oblong in shape, orange pink to brown in color. The substrates used showed different effects on germination (p<0.05); the application of T1 resulted in 91% germination, and germination speed index of 7 germinated seeds per day, values significantly higher than T2 and T3. The mean germination time was significantly higher in T1 and T2 of about 15 days. Thus, the application of cotton-based substrate was the most suitable to increase the germination percentage, germination speed index, and reducing the mean germination time
