Abstract: The study assessed the water quality of the Manaure River using physicochemical analyses and bioindication with macroinvertebrates at four points: the wastewater discharge point and the La Vega de Jacob trail. pH, temperature, conductivity, and dissolved oxygen were measured in situ, while BOD₅, COD, phosphorus, and nitrogen were determined in the laboratory. Macroinvertebrates were identified to calculate Shannon-Wiener, Simpson, Margalef, Dominance, BMWP/COL, and ASTP ratios. The results showed elevated COD (140 mg/L), BOD₅ (35 mg/L), and total phosphorus (0.71 mg/L) values at the discharge point, along with decreased diversity and increased dominance. The BMWP/COL ratio ranged from 34 (class IV) to 89 (class II), while the ASTP ratio ranged from 4.25 to 7.50. There is evidence of coexistence between sensitive and tolerant families, with deterioration at the discharge point and partial recovery downstream. The river shows moderate impact but maintains ecological resilience.
