EUGENIA E HIGIENISMO: INSTITUIÇÕES DE ENSINO NAS PÁGINAS DO DIARIO DE PERNAMBUCO NOS PRIMEIROS ANOS DO SÉCULO XX
Os estudos desenvolvidos
pela História da Educação apontam que na
primeira metade do século XX os médicos
higienistas tiveram bastante influência no
campo educacional, estabelecendo parâmetros
que deveriam ser seguidos pelos setores
educacionais. Sendo assim ao longo da
pesquisa buscamos analisar que influências
físicas e ideológicas presentes nas instituições
escolares, nos primeiros anos do século XX,
destes agentes higienistas. Para tanto foram
utilizados como fontes de pesquisa anúncios
e notícias do jornal Diario de Pernambuco,
referentes as instituições escolares como
também notícias atreladas às normas
estabelecidas por Instituições fiscalizadoras
e norteadoras da educação, localizados na
Fundação Joaquim Nabuco e na Biblioteca
Digital da Fundação Biblioteca Nacional. Os
resultados obtidos nesta pesquisa coadunam
com que os autores definem como eugenia
preventiva, neste momento percebemos a
organização e institucionalização do movimento
eugenista atrelado ao higienismo, utilizando
o jornal como veículo de propaganda para
disseminar seus ideais. Cruzando estas
informações com as bibliografias estudadas
virmos que era depositada nos espaços
educacionais a missão de propagar os preceitos
higiênicos e eugênicos para a modernização da
nação.

Abstract:
The studies developed by the
History of Education indicate that in the first half
of the twentieth century the medical hygienists
had a great influence on the educational field,
establishing parameters that should be followed
by the educational sectors. Thus, throughout
the research we seek to analyze what physical
and ideological influences present in the school
institutions, in the early years of the twentieth
century, of these hygienist agents. In order to
do so, the newspaper Diario de Pernambuco
was used as search and news sources for the
educational institutions, as well as news related
to the standards established by Institutions that
supervise and guide education, located at the
Joaquim Nabuco Foundation and at the Digital
Library of the National Library Foundation. The
results obtained in this research coincide with
what the authors define as preventive eugenics,
at this moment we perceive the organization
and institutionalization of the eugenic movement
linked to hygienism, using the newspaper as a
propaganda vehicle to disseminate their ideals.
Crossing this information with the bibliographies
studied we see that the mission of propagating hygienic and eugenic precepts for the
modernization of the nation was deposited in educational spaces.
