Abstract: An experimental study of mixed convection around a cylinder into chanel is presented. The experiments are performed in an assisted and counterflow for a non-Newtonian fluid. The working fluid is a 3% aqueous solution of sodium carboxymethylcellulose. The experimental device allows establishing bidimensional conditions of natural, mixed and forced convection. The Richardson number , is used as the criterion to determine the heat transfer rate, the working range for this is 1< Ri <2100 and for assisted and counterflow respectively . The results that are reported graphically show a linear growth of the heat transfer as a function of Reynolds number ReD. In addition, the mixed convection zone is shown in a range of Richardson's number 3 < Ri <10, where there heat transfer decrease.
