Abstract: In the municipality of San Pedro Tapanatepec, Oaxaca, mango cultivation is the main source of income for small producers. Although soil and climate conditions favor this agricultural activity, factors such as the scarcity of capital and a weak organizational structure limit its equitable use among producers. The purpose of this research is to analyze how the collective and individual work of mango producers is organized, as well as to identify the local knowledge involved in each stage of the production process. Through a qualitative approach, techniques such as direct observation and in-depth interviews were applied, which allowed us to know that the productive organization is not limited to formal structures, but includes a series of traditional practices and knowledge. These practices range from land preparation to post-harvest work, as well as marketing, elements that have a direct impact on the quality of the fruit and the yields obtained.
