• Abstract: The generation of reactive species is natural and important for the human organism, however, the imbalance of this system culminates in the generation of oxidative stress and, consequently, damage to biomolecules. The importance of taking it into consideration is increasingly understood when talking about neurodegenerative pathologies, such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases, in which the formation of Lewy bodies and senile plaques, respectively, demonstrated a direct reaction to neuronal oxidative stress. Likewise, its action on developmental disorders, bipolar disorder and autism spectrum disorder is observed, in which the regulation of this Redox system can prove to be an important ally in the depletion of symptoms.
