ESTRÉS EN PANAMÁ POR COVID-19
Cada día el número de casos positivos y fallecidos por COVI-19 aumentan en todas las regiones del mundo y no es excepción en la República de Panamá.
Este estudio forma parte de una investigación internacional coordinada por Lieberoth, y colaboradores (2020), para determinar el impacto psicológico y conductual de la crisis COVID-19 alrededor del mundo, de ahí surgió COVIDiSTRESS global survey. La batería integra nueve pruebas, en este documento se exponen los resultados estadísticos de la escala de estrés percibido PSS10-UCLA. En una publicación anterior, Matus y Matus (2020) mostraron las características psicométricas de PSS10-UCLA para la población panameña.
Los resultados indican que existen diferencias significativas entre hombres y mujeres, ya que la población masculina se encuentra con mayor riesgo de vulnerabilidad debido a los altos niveles de estrés percibido.
Se sugiere integrar esfuerzos de la comunidad científica para procurar soluciones viables ante incertidumbre y urgencia psicológica que enfrenta la población.

Abstract:
Every day the number of positive cases and deaths from COVI-19 increase in all regions of the world and is no exception in the Republic of Panama.
This study is part of an international investigation coordinated by Lieberoth, et al. (2020), to determine the psychological and behavioral impact of the COVID-19 crisis around the world, hence the COVIDiSTRESS global survey emerged. The battery integrates nine tests, this document presents the statistical results of the PSS10-UCLA scale of perceived stress. In a previous publication, Matus and Matus (2020) showed the psychometric characteristics of PSS10-UCLA for the Panamanian population.
The results indicate that there are significant differences between men and women, since the male population is at greater risk of vulnerability due to high levels of perceived stress.
It is suggested to integrate efforts of the scientific community to seek viable solutions to the uncertainty and psychological urgency facing the population. -
