Abstract: Online education is not a new concept, but it has experienced exponential growth during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study analyzes its evolution and rise during the pandemic and the different methodologies that were used. Based on grounded theory, strategies and methods in education during the pandemic were reviewed from a netnographic perspective. A mapping of scientific publications in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Chile and Mexico during this period was carried out. Google search trends were analyzed for the same countries. Scientific publications from the aforementioned countries were analyzed to identify the most relevant conceptual categories in relation to the teaching process. This made it possible to identify virtuality as the main option, which became almost the only alternative for education during the pandemic, due to the closure of educational institutions. The B-Learning methodologies allowed the realization of this popular option due to its flexibility and capacity to adapt to different needs. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
