Abstract: Study habits, understood as the methods and strategies a student typically uses to approach their learning process, are considered a fundamental, though not the only, factor in developing critical thinking. Critical thinking is understood as a reflective activity that fosters the ability to question one's own thinking and that of others. This observational and descriptive study, based on the ACRA Model, presents the results obtained from administering an instrument to a group of newly admitted students in the Dental Surgery program. The objective was to identify the study strategies and habits employed by the students as part of their training process and how these actions significantly contribute to the development of critical thinking. The main results, which fall into four categories of analysis, are presented in tables and show that the students have deficient study habits; therefore, their impact on developing critical thinking is limited. This presents a significant challenge and opportunity to establish action strategies in future school years aimed at generating and promoting training strategies that enhance students' critical thinking skills.
