Abstract: This integrative review aimed to analyze nursing strategies for the prevention of pressure injuries (PI), emphasizing the importance of continuous professional training, the use of standardized protocols, and adequate staffing. This descriptive-qualitative study, of the integrative review type, was conducted using the LILACS and SciELO databases between January and March 2025. The search utilized the descriptors “Pressure Injury,” “Nursing Care,” and “Prevention Protocol” and adopted the following inclusion criteria: full-text articles available in journals indexed in databases; articles published in Portuguese; and articles published within the last five years. Exclusion criteria included duplicate studies or those not aligned with the central objective of the research. All ethical aspects outlined in Law 9.610, the Brazilian Copyright Law, were respected. A thorough reading of the selected studies, based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulted in the identification of two thematic categories: (1) Implementation of pressure injury prevention protocols: challenges and solutions for nursing, and (2) Training and continuing education for nurses: tools for pressure injury prevention. The findings suggest that the implementation of standardized protocols is one of the main strategies to ensure uniformity in preventive actions; however, lack of adherence remains a challenge in several hospitals. Furthermore, the shortage of nursing professionals is a significant barrier to the effectiveness of PI prevention strategies, as work overload hinders essential activities such as skin inspection and patient repositioning.
