Abstract: The objective of this work is to map the carbon stock using remote sensing technologies in savanna palm swamp in the municipality of Unaí – MG, in order to highlight the potential of these ecosystems in carbon sequestration to mitigate global warming and incentives for environmental preservation policies. Images of the municipality of Unaí in the month of May 2024 obtained by the Ladsat-8 and 9 satellite were used and were processed in the QGis 3.34.6 software to extract the indices: NDVI, PRI, sPRI and Co2Flux and classify the municipality's land use. The CO2flux index images were recorded with the delimitations of the footpath areas and reclassified into classes 1 (low), 2 (medium) and 3 (high) which represent the area's potential to sequester carbon. The savanna palm swamps responded positively regarding carbon sequestration, since 82.83% of their area is within class 3, indicating a class with a high level of the area's carbon storage capacity. The formation of vegetative indices in Landsat images was sufficient to map the carbon sequestration potential in savanna palm swamps in the municipality of Unaí -MG.
