Abstract: This article analyzes Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights through Reception Aesthetics, focusing on its use in school contexts. The study highlights the interplay between Romantic and Gothic elements and their relevance for readers’ critical formation. The theoretical framework draws on Jauss (1994), Iser (2000), Mignolo (2003), Quijano (2000), Moisés (2000), among others, combining reception theory and literary criticism. From a decolonial perspective, the research problematizes the canonization of the novel and the horizons of expectation shaped by Eurocentric matrices. As a bibliographic study, it examines different contexts of reading and teaching, showing that Reception Aesthetics, combined with decolonial approaches, fosters multiple interpretations, increases student engagement, and opens space to question cultural and epistemological hierarchies.
