Abstract: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a disease with a heterogeneous clinical presentation whose main clinical features are chronic anovulation and manifestations of hyperandrogenism. In addition to reproductive disorders, women with PCOS often have metabolic disorders that include insulin resistance, obesity, and dyslipidemia. Obesity affects approximately 30 to 70% of PCOS and can exacerbate associated metabolic and reproductive abnormalities. Body weight control and diet are important components in the treatment of PCOS. It is possible that the quality of the diet may interfere with the endocrine and metabolic abnormalities present in PCOS, although there is no current consensus on the best composition of macronutrients in the diet. In order to investigate how prevention and quality of life through nutritional intervention can benefit women with polycystic ovary syndrome, the study method of strategic research was adopted with descriptive objectives, a qualitative approach with the procedure of systematic bibliographic review and research technique. exploratory for the acquisition of new knowledge in which it was carried out regarding the diet and women with PCOS, including simultaneous analysis of the articles used as inclusion criteria were discussed with the purpose of updating the scientific and general community regarding the theme of the research by the descriptors. Although it is clear that weight reduction is beneficial in the treatment of PCOS, the proper composition of the diet to achieve weight reduction is still controversial. There is an increase in interest in weight reduction diets that aim to modify the macronutrient profile in the treatment of PCOS, such as high protein diets with reduced or modified amount of carbohydrates. These diets contribute to more effective weight reduction and greater satiety power, in addition to promoting improvement in cardiometabolic risk factors, hormonal profile and reproductive function. However, further studies are needed in an attempt to clarify which dietary option would be more effective in managing the body weight of these patients.
