Abstract: Management systems can influence the accumulation of soil organic matter and aggregate stability. The aim of the study was to determine the stability of aggregates by dry and wet methods, and to quantify the levels of organic carbon in the soil in different granulometric fractions of organic matter. The study was carried out on the organic property Sítio do Sol located in Seropédica-RJ. The experimental design was entirely randomized with five replications in each treatment (conventional planting system – CPS and no-till system – NTS). To analyze the stability of the aggregates, clouds were collected at depths of 0-10 cm, then dried and subjected to sieving on a set of 8.0 and 4.0 mm mesh sieves. The aggregates retained on the 4 mm sieve were used for analysis of the weighted average diameter (WAD) of the aggregates, by dry and wet sieving, and analysis of total organic carbon, particulate organic carbon and organic carbon associated with minerals. The WAD results of the aggregates were higher in the NTS compared to the CPS, reflecting the greater stability of the aggregates. The soil organic matter fractions showed no significant difference, which can be attributed to the short time the system has been in use.
