Abstract: Schistosomiasis is a parasitic disease caused by the etiological agent Schistosoma mansoni, acquired in an aquatic environment with global elimination targets in the 2030 Agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals. In Brazil, this condition is recognized as an important public health problem due to its transmission complexity and conditioning factors. Its prevalence occurs in vulnerable populations regarding socioeconomic and environmental conditions. This study investigated the spatiotemporal behavior of schistosomiasis in the states of the Southeast region, from 2007 to 2017. This is a descriptive, retrospective, and quantitative research, carried out with secondary data from the Information System on Diseases and Notification, Information System on Mortality, Hospital Information System of the Unified Health System and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. Data were collected on the number of notified and confirmed cases, hospitalizations, deaths and the variables gender, age group, color/race, and education. The incidence rate and Prais-Winsten regression were calculated. The results indicated an endemic behavior of the disease in the Southeast region from 2010 onwards. The number of hospitalizations showed a stable trend for all states, the number of deaths registered a growing trend for Minas Gerais, stability for Espírito Santo and a decline for Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. It is concluded that there was a decrease in the incidence of schistosomiasis in the Southeast, however many cases are still registered, mainly in Minas Gerais. This information is important to direct public health policies, investments in basic sanitation and actions to control and eradicate the disease.
