• Abstract: Reporting the experience of professionals who have studied a multidisciplinary specialization in quality and security in patient care. Method: this is an experience report on a specialization in quality and patient safety, which occurred between March and December 2017, for 40 professionals in the health area, who worked in patient care and managers in the Southern Region of Brazil. The course was conducted through active methodologies, with online, face-to-face and practical meetings. Results: putting this method of learning into practice enabled students to share knowledge and experiences with other professionals from different health services. In addition, it was noticed the importance of the work in professional team, as well as the quality and safety of the patient through the different spheres in the work environment. Final considerations: the postgraduate education sensitized professionals about the theme addressed, substantiated by the critical opening, humanized care, reflecting changes in the practice of health services.
