Abstract: This article investigates the precariousness of rural education in Acre, using the "school without walls" in Bujari as a case study. The goal is to analyze how school neoliberalism contributes to this situation, understanding the perspectives of parents, teachers, and public managers, and highlighting the urgent need for a redefinition of education's role. The methodology involved analyzing a Fantástico/G1 news report about the school's unsanitary conditions, in addition to statements from educational authorities. The theoretical framework draws on István Mészáros, who views education as tied to capital and a generator of inequalities, and Edgar Morin, who emphasizes the need for transformative education for life's uncertainties. School neoliberalism is identified as a factor that, by promoting decentralization and privatization, exacerbates the lack of infrastructure and investment in rural schools. The conclusions indicate that educational precariousness in Acre is a result of state omission and the neoliberal logic, which transfers responsibilities and perpetuates inequality. The continuation of classes in inadequate conditions, under the justification of the academic calendar, highlights the disconnect between policies and reality. The article advocates for the need to break free from the constraints of capital so that education can become an instrument of emancipation and full development.
