Abstract: This study analyzed 14 years of pulmonary embolism treatments in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Among 20,791 hospitalizations costing R$378 million, 2022 had the highest number of cases (2,078) and expenses (R$4.75 million). Most cases were urgent (20,664), with 2,492 in the public sector, 6,055 in the private, and 12,294 unreported. The mortality rate averaged 15.88%, peaking in 2010 (20.04%) and dropping to its lowest in 2019 (13.53%). The study underscores the need for improved pulmonary embolism management and data collection to address this significant public health concern in Brazil.
