Abstract: This paper aims to highlight gender reifications in the constructions of mother and father parenthood outlined in processes involving reports of 'Parental Alienation'. In these cases, the purpose is to categorize individuals as 'alienating agents' who, legally, interfere in a promoted or induced manner in the psychological formation of the child or adolescent, leading them to repudiate one parent or causing harm to the establishment or maintenance of bonds with said parent. As the legal records categorize the 'alienating agent', they become data capable of portraying reality, classifying subjects, (re)producing gender stereotypes, and reifying parental models. Drawing on the theoretical frameworks of Foucault and Butler, we consider 'Parental Alienation' as a space in which the individual will only be recognized as an intelligible subject if they conform to the guidelines of the norm that regulates parenthood, based on the sex/gender system, whose social roles are gendered and heteronormative, associating mothers with images of care and fathers with images of rationality and labor. The research has been conducted through informal conversations with judges, attending hearings and processes in Family Courts within a jurisdiction in Maranhão, with a time frame starting from 2010, the year in which Law 12.318/2010 came into effect. The findings so far have revealed the existence of heteronormative parenthood.
