Abstract: This article investigates the challenges faced by itinerant teachers who commute daily between municipalities to work in public education systems, highlighting how compulsory mobility undermines their health, professional identity, and connection with the school community. Based on a qualitative approach, the research employs bibliographic and documentary review to analyze the subjective, political, and institutional dimensions of teacher itinerancy. Findings reveal that the absence of specific public policies, combined with the symbolic invisibility of these professionals, exacerbates the precariousness of teaching and weakens the full exercise of the profession. Grounded in authors such as Nóvoa, Tardif, and Libâneo, the discussion denounces the historical neglect by the State regarding teacher appreciation and retention. The article advocates for urgent intermunicipal strategies and legal frameworks that recognize itinerant teachers as rights-bearing subjects and educational agents, ensuring their dignity, stability, and critical engagement in school environments.
